In 2019 alone, URZILA CARLSON has performed 36 completely sold out shows across Australia. By demand, she is back to perform two very special ENCORE performances at Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre, with 7pm and 9pm shows on Friday December 13.

From March till July this year, multi award-winning South African-Newlander Carlson took her brand-new comedy show, LOSER, to  9 cities and regional centres across Australia. Commencing at the 2019 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the MICF season of Loser saw Urzila become the first female comedian to perform a full run at Melbourne Town Hall’s Main Hall, winning her the People’s Choice Award for the most popular show of the festival.

“Loser is almost always negative,” Urzila says. ”I’ve lost my keys, a relative, my mind, money, dignity… it’s only positive when you lose some weight. WHY? If you meet someone awesome would you not want there to be more of them? Why can your friends not see your fatness but your family and doctor can see nothing but your fatness? Why is losing so hard? The truth is, we’re all losers in some form and at some point we’ll hit our rock bottom. Are you prepared? Get ready losers, let’s tackle our failures. What’s the worst that can happen?”

Urzila is now a series regular on Network Ten’s smash-hit panel show, Have You Been Paying Attention?!. The 2017 winner of the Sydney Comedy Festival’s Director’s Choice Award was born in South Africa, and now calls New Zealand home where she is a household name and a cast member of popular NZ comedy panel show 7 Days.

Since first taking to the stage in 2008 Urzila has racked up an impressive array of awards including Best Female Comedian  at the NZ Comedy Guild Awards no less than six times, as well as NZ’s coveted People’s Choice Award two years in a row at the NZ International Comedy Festival. In October Urzila became the new Australasian Ambassador of South African Tourism for both Australia and NZ.
