The Resilience Project’s previously sold-out public talks give everyone a chance to learn positive mental health strategies which help us become happier and more resilient. Through engaging story telling and by unpacking the research into simple tips, Hugh leaves the audience feeling empowered to improve their wellbeing.

 

Hugh van Cuylenburg has previously partnered with elite sports teams (including Australian cricket, netball, soccer, NRL and AFL teams), over a thousand schools and more than 500 workplaces, teaching simple and practical evidence-based mental health strategies to build resilience and happiness.

 

Hugh is alsot he best-selling author of The Resilience Project: Finding Happiness Through Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness, with nearly 200,000 copies sold. His sequel, Let Go: it’s time for us to let go of shame, expectation and our addiction to social media is out now. Hugh is also the co-host of popular podcast the imperfects.

 

The messages behind The Resilience Project’s work have become ever more powerful over the past twelve months due to the uncertainty created during the Coronavirus pandemic. Parking

The closest parking is located in Flinders Lane - Wilson Parking (Flinders Gate). Evening parking can be pre-booked online through https://bookabay.wilsonparking.com.au/

Alternatively Council House Car Park in Royal Lane is located off Little Collins St

How early should I arrive before the performance?

The main doors and box office open 90 mins prior to the start of each performance. The doors to enter the auditorium usually open 30 mins prior to the performance

What happens if I’m running late to a performance?

Due to the nature of live performance, trying to find your way to your seat once a show has started can disrupt both the audience and the performers on stage. Therefore, most performances have a lockout period which restricts anybody from entering the auditorium until a suitable break in the performance.

Can I take food and drinks inside the auditorium?

Packaged foods and cold drinks purchased at any of our theatre bars can be taken into the auditorium during the performance.

Hot drinks, glass and unpackaged foods will not be admitted into the auditorium.


Does the Atheneaum have a cloak room?

No, unfortunately not. Therefore we recommend that patrons do not bring bags larger than a regular sized handbag or small backpack to the theatre.

The Box Office in the Athenaeum Theatre Main Foyer is open Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm and opens one and a half hours prior to all performances. “Door Sales” and collection of tickets at the Venue may be done then.

Can I pre-order interval drinks?

No, interval drinks can not be pre-ordered.

What happens if my performance is cancelled or postponed?

If the performance or event that you were scheduled to attend is cancelled or postponed, we will be in touch at the earliest opportunity.

In the event of a cancellation, you will be given the option to either exchange your tickets to an alternative performance or the option for a full refund.

Should your event be rescheduled, your booking will automatically be valid for the new date and time. If you’re unable to attend, you will be given the option to either exchange your tickets to an alternative performance (if applicable), the option to receive a full refund.

Do you have a dress code?

There is no dress code. Casual attire is acceptable.

What are the running times for shows/concerts?

Running times for shows are available on the show information pages. Concerts & individual events may not be able to supply this information in advance.
